Velveteen

In the realm of rat breeding, the “Velveteen” coat is a truly unique gem, offering a captivating blend of characteristics. It’s akin to a rexoid type, distinguished by its less curly and more wavy appearance, resembling little lambs when they’re born. While the velveteen coat may soften as these adorable rats grow, unlike Rex, doubling the Velveteen gene doesn’t result in hair loss; instead, it makes the coat thicker, plush, and even more curly. Velveteen’s allure lies in its softness, falling somewhere between the luxurious feel of Silvermane and the standard coat. And I’m excited to share that Velveteen Harleys and Double Velveteens are on the horizon, promising even more delightful variations to enrich our rat family soon!
